Vintage Charm, Modern Feel! Vario 1918 Pilot Review - Angled for Driving
The Vario 1918 Pilot is a nod to the classic trench watch, with a twist…literally. It's all in the angle. This off centered dial is configured such that the 12 o'clock marker is typically vertical while completing tasks with your hands, like driving or flying. This enamel dialed beauty features wire lugs and a charming hand-wound mechanical movement from Miyota.

First Look! Seestern S445 Mechanical Chronograph - Premiere Unboxing
Переглядів 2,7 тис.14 днів тому
The Seestern S445 Mechanical Chronograph pays homage to a couple of different watches that are part of a Swiss manufacturer’s FXD collection; a diver and a chrono. This budget version is cased in 316L stainless steel, with integrated fixed lugs, and features the Seagull caliber ST1901, a column wheel mechanical chronograph. The (carbon?) bezel insert has countdown markings and the overall BGW9 ...

BEST American Field Watch - VAER A5 Tactical Field Review

Is this the BEST American Field Watch? The VAER A5 Tactical Field is an automatic watch that is just short of being able to boast "Made in USA." Parts are sourced from other countries, but assembly happens here in the USA, so VAER fairly labels them with "American Assembly." I think you'll find that when the build and quality assurance is handled in the USA, the overall result is one of the bes...

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 7 годин тому

      Is yours pretty reliable when calibrated everyday? The compass has been the only "is it really worth it?" complication for me on this watch. I'm working on a one-year-later review and will definitely address my concerns with the compass.

    Nem néztem végig a videót. Megláttam, hogy a mutatók nem pont a vonalakon állnak meg. Egyszer volt Timex órám, az ugyanígy a két vonal közé állította a mutatókat. Nagyon zavaró. Azt hittem, hogy az én órám hibás, de most már látom, hogy a Timex nem tud órát gyártani. A Casio SGW-500H órám másodpercmutatója pontosan a vonalon áll meg.

      It's hit or miss with Timex. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't. The watch in this video was actually replaced and the replacement watch did BETTER but doesn't hit every mark. I have another Timex, which is considerable less expensive, and the seconds hand hits all the markers.

      I agree. However, between the clicks it's like a SOLID friction bezel. SOOOO, it IS actually useable outside of just the indentations. Still stupid, but better than my first impressions from this video. It's a great watch! I'm really diggin' it!

    I'm late to the party about the Hyper-G and SWC as a whole. I checked out the Hyper-G when I was exploring SWC's new Tremor model. I liked the Hyper-G so much that I ordered the last one in stock a few days ago. Coincidentally I own a Sofia II from Axia Time that shares the Hyper-G's titanium case. The specs and regulated accuracy of the Hyper-G, however, are superior to the Sofia II while the price is considerably less. Only one complaint about the SWC and I'm sure I'm not alone. The name of the brand is just awful. (Try googling "Swiss Watch Company" you'll see just how problematic it is. Not to mention the bizarre logo that looks like a fifth grader's doodle. I can live with those issues but I suspect others cannot. Change the name and the logo. The watches are cheapened by the brand name and the logo.

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 10 днів тому

      Hard to say, as there are a few different caseback styles. If you have series of small ridges around the caseback perimeter (almost look like a grip for your fingers to rotate it) then you need a friction ball. Or, if you see a little lip, almost like a screwdriver head, near one of the lugs...that's a snap on/off caseback. You pry/leverage that carefully to remove. But caution with those...they can be extremely difficult to put back ON without the right tools, and you risk damaging your watch...many will shatter their crystal while attempting.

    • @stevenmonkman1500
      @stevenmonkman1500 10 днів тому

      I did a little more research and found out it is a monocoque case GN-4W-UL. Apparently, the bezel needs to be removed and the stem to replace the battery. I would love to see a video on that!

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 10 днів тому

      @stevenmonkman1500 Oh, wow, I've never seen a monoblock case from Citizen. Yes, typically you have to remove the crystal and go in from the front! You should be able to find some videos, but specific tools are needed. If you don't have the experience, this one is better off having done by a watchmaker.

    I always promised myself the Speedy and in 2015, bought one, and I love it, but that hexalite crystal, and the fact that prices have now rocketed and wearing one makes you a target, these days the Pagani sits on my wrist most days, and yeah I know its not the same, but bloody hell its far better than the moonswatch and for less money (and yeah I bought one of them too!) Normally leave it on the bracelet but sometimes a Marine Nationale blue, black of khaki strap gets an outing. (Damn they're the most comfortable of watch straps). Anyway if you are ondering buying a PD, then don't, buy it and providing you can live with it not saying "Omega Speedmaster Professional" on the dial, you will love it.

      If you're asking if this is a "vX" of the PD-1701, no it's not. They gave this watch its own reference number, PD-1779. This is the only version of the 1779...there hasn't been a v2 yet, that I know of. The version numbers happen when they update the watch, or add a dial variation. This IS the same specs as the newest PD-1701, but adds PVD case, partial skeleton dial, blue anti-reflective coating on the sapphire crystal, and a completely different strap.

    I have watches with and without cyclops. The problem with most cyclops is that you have to look at just the right angle to prevent the optical distortion from making them unreadable. Without a cyclops, the image is always clear.

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 14 днів тому

      I prefer them, depending on the watch/dial. But if they start getting scratched up, they look terrible and actually prevent you from reading the date! This one is pretty big, so you don't have to find JUST the right angle like you were mentioning. Image is big, too!

    They definitely did a great job on that strap! It’s very close to one in the Red Bull FXD. I own a Tactical Frog homage to the regular FXD. It’s a fantastic watch for the price point but they can’t get the strap right. First, the fabric is not great. Then, the length. I have a 6 1/2 in. wrist and the strap is too long. The one on this Seestern seems like it’s gonna be a perfect fit for me! Too bad they don’t sell it separately.

      @@WatchWitt Yes, that makes this strap super practical, easier than natos to put your watch on, bracelet-like. I’m glad it finally fit you right. It’s very kind of you to take your time to reply to the comments 👏🏼

      @@charliealva4833For my size wrist, 8 inches, I have to remove the strap from the bottom lug to take on/off. My guess is somewhat smaller wrists could slide in/out without removing. Another nice thing about the fixed lugs is that the opening is wide, unlike some springbar clearances, so wear and tear on the strap should be reduced. Man, I'll always reply to comments, at least as long as it's feasible to do so. I've always wanted this channel to be more of a community for watch nerds than a straightforward review channel. Damn I had actually thought about ordering one of these but the 'chronograph' font genuinely kills this for me. I couldn't look at that Simpsons font. Hopefully enough people complain about it and they fix it with a V2. They can get rid of the crown guards while they're at it.

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 16 днів тому

      Well, that's why I'm here...show you the watch and let you decide what's right for you! But I'll tell you, that font doesn't jump out at you while wearing the watch; it's just too small to even tell. But if you know, you know...and I guess that's where some get hung up. I saw a Reddit post that said this was limited to 500 pieces, so there might not be a V2. I like the crown guards...!

    Some hard failures to swallow. Useless bezel, diver look without sufficient water resistance, straps too short, weird text on the dial… Try again, Seestern.

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 16 днів тому

      I'm 50/50 with you. 1) The resistance on the bezel BETWEEN the clicks is solid...like a friction bezel. While I don't agree with the 24 click choice, it IS functional as its intended countdown scale. 2) Absolutely. Screw down crown and pushers with 200m water resistance would have been awesome! 3) The strap DID stretch out a little. I can now wear it with confidence that it won't come undone. Since 7" inch is average, and I have 8" wrist, it's acceptable. Bigger would have been better, but not if you've got a 6" wrist...too MUCH strap. 4) Absolutely! The text feels like it wasn't thought out. It didn't stop me from buying it, but it may stop others.

    90 GBP versus 300 GBP for the tacky plastic Swatch. No contest. It just goes to show how little Omega think of people who can't / won't buy the Speedy because of its ridiculous over pricing. Great review. Thank you.

    Thanks for that . Strange decisions regarding lugs and thus strap options . I don’t like straps that pass under the back and like to swap straps on my watches occasionally. It also renders the beautiful exhibition back rather redundant , and possibly more prone to scratches if grit gets in between the strap and back undetected. It’s a niece looking piece and as I own a couple of Seestern models I expected the good lume and general presentation. Can’t imagine it will be a best seller , with too many quirks .

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 16 днів тому

      Well the fixed lugs are the most major part of the homage, as this takes design cues from the FXD collection. Man, great point on grit/sand getting between the strap and caseback crystal...another reason sapphire might have been a better choice there. I originally heard that this would be limited to 500 pieces, but haven't been able to confirm. They don't mention that in the listing.

    I love the look, but… I don’t particularly care for pass through straps. On top of that, why would you put a see through case back on a watch that you have to remove the strap just to see it? There was also no mention of whether or not the movement has the swan neck regulator. For about $150, Sugess makes some really good looking chronographs similar to a 1963. You can get them with or without the swan neck regulator. I might consider one of these if I could put it on a bracelet or at least a spring bar type strap.

    • @brucecoleman7412

    • @WatchWitt
      @WatchWitt 17 днів тому

      Probably the number one comment...and I had the same reservations before buying the watch. But, at least with THIS single pass, you just have to grab some slack and move the strap to side for glorious viewing! No need to remove the strap. This DOES have the swan neck regulator. Versions I have seen in the past have it blued, but this one is gold in color. You can see it in this video above the balance wheel.
